About Us

Longboarding USA is a journey that two brothers from Mt. Pleasant, North Carolina are taking to spread awareness for various charities and ideas that break away from common everyday commotion.  Caleb and Tanner Childs are setting off from Wilmington, NC and hoping to finish in San Francisco, CA.  Along the way they will attempt to encourage donations and an adventurous lifestyle to the many friends they will make.

Mission

To raise awareness of present day issues and build support for an on-going cause

Who are We?

Caleb Childs is, before anything else, a believer and follower of Jesus Christ.  He graduated from N.C. State University in 2008 and has worked multiple jobs since, which has led him to believe, much like his brother, that there is more to life than just working a 9 to 5 with the same routine, day in and day out.  The chance to walk across America definitely breaks that routine and, more importantly, is a great way to raise awareness and support for a couple of very worthy causes.

Tanner Childs is a student at UNC Charlotte and will be graduating in May 2012.  At the age of 19 he realized that life was more than just clocking in to work everyday and saving up money to buy materialistic things that can’t go with him when he dies. Quickly he came up with the idea to walk across America to spread his ideas of how people should find more to  life other than a 9 to 5.  He also wants to show people how good deeds such as supporting charities gives a happier feeling and a better outlook on life.

How You Can Help

You can make a huge impact on many lives by going to the charities page and finding the one that interests you the most. Make a small donation to one or multiple organizations if you would like but by doing this you help Caleb and Tanner continue on their journey and help make the world a better place.

    Tanner and Caleb,

We met the two of you this past Sunday, 5/28 in the parking lot at Alum Cave Trail in the Smoky Mountains. I was the crazy lady who asked you why you had skateboards when you were hiking! LOL! Finally got to log in and check out your website! I knew there was something special about the two of you! I am wearing the bracelet you gave me everyday so I remember to lift you up in prayer…..praying God’s blessings and safety on you as you spread His light throughout the country! Looking forward to periodic updates on here!

    Your sister in Christ,
    Renee Timpe

We all here at the Best Western Wakeeney Inn & Suites have been wondering how far you had gotten. I went on this morning and saw where you were out of Kansas. I hope that you soon get into some cooler weather. It has had to of been miserable for you two. Thank you again for doing what you are doing. The picture of Travis Farber our wounded Marine that you carry with you will be home next Wed. to visit. He is still trying to heal and they still might have to remove his leg but he is keeping his spirits up pretty well. What you two are doing is awesome. You are in our daily prayers. Thank you again for your work. It was a pleasure meeting two such wonderful and inspiring young men.
